BACKGROUND
San Antonio Soccer Academy was started with the idea of bringing competitive soccer to those who want to play high level soccer without having to pay a large premium. Providing affordable soccer for kids at the highest competitive level is part of our ideology; we try to implement it in all we do. SASA is committed to providing an environment in which players can learn the necessary technical, tactical, physical, and psychological dimensions of soccer for competition at the highest levels.
INTRODUCTION
San Antonio Soccer Academy (SASA) is open to male and female players, ages 8-19. We offer Division I, Super II, and Division II for players U11-U19. A developmental Academy Program is available to all U9-U10 players that wish to play and train at a higher level of competition.
Our primary objectives are, player development and competition at the highest level. Other key objectives include good sportsmanship and strong personal values. Our certified training staff strives to instill values that not only will last throughout the player's career, but a lifetime. Winning is the result of an exceptional program that compliments with the player's daily life. SASA players will gain that competitive advantage by participating in a quality program which offers them unmatched value.
WHAT TO EXPECT DURING TRYOUTS
- The SASA coaching/training staff will observe the players performing skills exercises, 1v1 and 2v2 type competition, but a large percentage of the time will be scrimmages.
- The trainers will divide the players into groups and each group will work with various trainers at different times. You can expect your child to be moved to different groups throughout the day. This is all part of the evaluation process.
- The trainers will be evaluating how each player reacts to different challenges and game situations.
- Following the tryouts, the trainers will determine which teams players will be placed on.
- Each newly formed team will have their first practice and team meeting the week immediately following tryouts.
- There will be open Summer League offered for SASA players in July-August with Mission City Youth Soccer Organization @ Brooks City Park.
- SASA team camps can begin in July and will be determined by the team trainer.
- A calendar of Fall 2008 events will be sent to all teams as well as posted on the website.
HELPFUL INFORMATION
- On-site registration will begin at 5:15 pm (45 minutes before tryouts). Please fill out the one-page registration form legibly and completely. This will ensure we have the correct contact information for you and your child.
- The trainers will have a list of players' names and numbers
- Please arrive on time! SASA training staff will begin working with the players promptly at the times indicated on this letter.
- Each session will last 2 hours. Please have someone present to pick up your child promptly. You are welcome to stay and watch the tryout sessions, but please refrain from coaching your child. The players do not need any additional sideline stress.
- It is best not to eat a large meal right before a tryout session. A light snack such as fruit should be fine.
- Please make sure your child brings water to drink during the tryout sessions. He/She should begin hydrating themselves 4 days before tryouts.
